Cassleman River Log Homes is based in Somerset, PA and has been a manufacturer of advanced building materials for over 10 years and has pioneered the patent-pending SmartLog, or Structural Insulated Log.

The company was founded by Jim Latshaw II who is now the CEO of Casselman River Log Homes, LLC. Jim  has worked as a General Contractor for 15 years in the Somerset County area and ,like everyone else, Jim has always wanted a log home. But he realized that traditional logs were lacking in energy efficiency and he saw an opportunity to improve the log home industry.
Jim understood that there should be better products, created to be much more energy efficient.  He had the aspiration to make a log product that had the appearance of a natural log but also provided much more energy efficiency, less maintenance, and most importantly, would be much more affordable to the working family.

So by engineering a Log with Kiln dried Lumber and then by injecting the soy bean based foam inside the log for energy efficiency, the first Structural insulated Log (SIL) was born. After the success of the first SIL based homes, new concept were added on such as the smart cabling by which electrical cabling is running through the log, inside conduits that are placed before the foam is injected.

The main innovation that followed was the adoption of the Structural insulated panels (SIP) for the roof system of Casselman River Log Homes. The company became a certified builder for SIPs and acquired the necessary tools to manufacture SIP panel to custom dimensions, as required by the Homebuilder or Homeowner.

Today, Casselman River Log Homes is the most advanced manufacturer of Log Homes, using the state of the art construction techniques to allow families to realize their dream to own a Log Home, at the most affordable price, with the most advanced features and with the environment in mind.
